Where have I been? - Nobody Get's Out of Life Alive

Where have I been?

Sorry, it's been forever since I've updated. My life has been pretty dull (with one exception), basically work and school and home, then repeat. But there is one exciting thing going on. Read about it behind the cut.

She came home to a husband who was busy killing monsters on his computer game. "Hey," she said, "Do you want to see the cutest kitten ever?” He really didn’t say anything but obediently followed directions through the Denver Dumb Friends League website. “That one,” she said, leaning over his shoulder, pointing to one of the kittens.

Now, what you don’t know is that she suffers from severe allergies. She could never have a pet growing up because of it, despite the fact she’s always wanted a cat. Lately, she’d done some research into allergies to cats and has decided she could have a cat, as long as they followed some guidelines. Like it being a short haired, light colored cat and that it would never be let into the bedroom.

Loading up the picture, he agreed, “She is a cutie. Let’s go get her.” He shut down his computer and headed downstairs to put on his shoes.

“Wha?” His wife tried to convince him not to. “Not today, we don’t have anything. We don’t have kitty litter or food or place for it to sleep.”

“No,” he countered. “If you think about it, it’ll never happen. We need to do this now.”

“But, but, kitty litter!”

“We can pick that up on the way.”

She looked at the clock. “Its rush hour traffic and they're all the way down on Evans and Quebec. We’ll never get there before they close.”

“Not if we leave right now. Are you coming?”

Close to hyperventilating, she filled a coin. It landed heads up which always means inaction. “No, I’ll stay here and clean up the apartment.”

Hour and a half of manic cleaning goes by before she receives a telephone call. “Are you still panicking?” he asks.

“The kitten you wanted has already been adopted, but they have one here who looks similar to her, they might be litter mates. Do you want her?”

“Surprise me.”

“No, you have to choose.”

“Um, okay, get that one then.”

"It won’t be coming home with me tonight. She needs to be spayed. They’ll do that overnight and we can pick her up tomorrow.”

“All right, I’ll see you when you get home.”

Relived that a kitten won’t be coming home that night, she finally relaxes in front of the TV and watches The Office and tries to watch the Scrubs musical, but it was too weird for her. When she begins to wonder if he’s ever coming home, he does, with a gray kitten in his hands. It was the same kitten they saw on the internet. The one which was already adopted.

He explained, "The people who were going to adopt her didn’t want her because she as a cold." As on cue, the cat sneezed and they all knew it was her cat.
