Holy Hannah! She's not only posting, but it's a ficlet too! - Nobody Get's Out of Life Alive

Holy Hannah! She's not only posting, but it's a ficlet too!

Yep, bought on by a bout of boredom and inspired by this week's challenge (insomnia), at open_on_sunday, I wrote a story which ended up being longer than 100 words. Woot!

Wesley woke to frantic pounding at his apartment's door. He half rolled over to look at the time, then rolled back to his original position. The pounding continued for a good minute more. Then his cellphone began to ring. Then his home phone. Then the pounding started again.

Grumbling, Wesley got up and answered the door. “About time!” Cordelia and Gunn came in.

Wesley leaned against the wall with his eyes closed. “How was the midnight showing of The Exorcist?”

“It was great, really scary. You should've come.” Cordelia studied the couch, “Does this pull-out?”

“Why are you guys here?” Wesley mumbled.

“Duh," Cordelia put her hands on her hips. “We just saw the scariest movie ever made. Of course we're going to stay with a guy who knows how to perform exorcisms. Now, where are your extra pillows?”

“In here,” Gunn opened Wesley's hall closet and handed her a pillow and some blankets.

“I'm going to bed,” Wesley walked past them on his way back to his bedroom.

A few minutes later, Gunn came in and started getting undressed. “Who said you were sleeping with me?” Wesley asked.

“That's what Cordelia said. No, actually she said, 'Why do you get the bed?' When I explained the bed means sleeping with you, she found the couch to be comfy.”

Wesley moved over, making room for Gunn. “I told you this would happen. That is the reason why I didn't want to go.”

Gunn laid on his back, staring up at Wesley's textured ceiling. “But we're hardened veterans. A little fake projectile vomit shouldn't scare us. Hell, we've had the real thing on us.”

“That's why it's more frightening for us, we know it's real. All those other people in the theater think it's just make believe, but it's not.”

“Oh thanks. That makes me feel a lot better.”

“I'm glad. Good night.” Wesley rolled over and promptly fell asleep.

Gunn continued to stare at the ceiling. Too scared to even move, let alone close his eyes. He looked over at Wesley's relaxed, slightly snoring body. “Bastard,” he whispered.

Hey, I just read the shortened version of this on open_on_sunday. Love it!

Actually, I was wondering if you mind me posting it in my lj? (Credit and links to you, of course). See here. If you want me to remove it, let me know and I'll get on it straight away.

Good job with this, either way. You've definitely got a lot of talent! =)

This was adorable! All Wesley-Cordelia-Gunn interaction makes me squee like a squeeing thing, but this was particularly enjoyable.

“Why are you guys here?” Wesley mumbled.

“Duh," Cordelia put her hands on her hips. “We just saw the scariest movie ever made. Of course we're going to stay with a guy who knows how to perform exorcisms. Now, where are your extra pillows?”

Love your Cordy so much, and, love them being scared by The Exorcist, poor babies; as Wesley says, it's all too real for them. And, yes, I have to admit the Wesley-Gunn shipper in me squeed about them sharing the bed. Of course, the Wesley-Cordy shipper in me would have squeed about *them* sharing the bed, or the Gunn-Cordy shipper in me would have squeed...but you get the idea. Love these three together so much in any combination or permutation.

Please tell me you have some more adorable S2 vignettes demanding to be written? I would love about another fifty like this, if it's not too much trouble?

For all of your Gunn/Wesley needs, visit Gunn/Wesley memories. The vast majority of them are drabbles.

Hmm...don't have any obvious Cordelia ships, but I do have a lot of her snarking:

Could've Been Normal

Price

Truth About Fairies

Huh, this really doesn't have title. Oh well.
